Xarelto Litigation Mass Tort Docket Created in Philadelphia

Administrative Judge Kevin M. Dougherty signed an Order docketed on January 20, 2015, creating a Xarelto Litigation Mass Tort Program in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.

As such, all pending and subsequently filed cases will be transferred to the Court’s Complex Litigation Center for coordination. Case Management Order No. 1 is expected to be issued shortly.

Presently, there are approximately 75 cases filed in Philadelphia County against various Johnson & Johnson entities, Janssen entities and Bayer entities.

These, and related entities, are responsible for the development, manufacturing, marketing and sales of Xarelto – a novel oral anticoagulant (“NOAC”), with over $2 billion dollars in sales nationwide, as well as allegations that it is responsible for thousands of negligently caused injuries.

Lawsuit filings in Philadelphia County are expected to substantially increase.
