Around 7:30 pm, the car accident occurred when a 39-year-old man from Ellendale, Delaware, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, slammed into a sedan that was stopped at a red light. The impact of the collision caused the sedan to hit a pickup truck. The woman driving the sedan sustained a head injury and received treatment at the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital while her 10-year-old daughter incurred serious injuries, needed to be transported to the Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, and remains in critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck escaped the car crash without injuries.
