Bankruptcy Law

At Jacobs & Crumplar, P.A., we have extensive experience and a long history of handling all types of bankruptcy claims, and we have served as local counsel for numerous tort-based bankruptcies – ranging from complex asbestos cases to slip-and-fall cases. We were also lead counsel for more than 100 creditors (all sex abuse victims) in the historic Diocese of Wilmington Bankruptcy. In that Bankruptcy we refused to “simply follow along”. Instead we successfully petitioned the Bankruptcy Court to be able to go to trial against a Parish which had been a co-defendant with the Diocese before they avoided trial by filing Bankruptcy. This case, Vai v. St. Elizabeth, resulted in the largest verdict in US history against an individual Church, and we ultimately brought the Diocese to the table and resulted in the end of the Bankruptcy.
