Sexual Assaults and Abuse of boys and girls happen often in our time. It does not matter if you are rich or poor as wealth does not protect the abused children. We see stories about it almost daily in the news. The commonly cited statistics are that one in four girls and one in six boys are sexually abused as children. The damages are long lasting and devastating, can ruin lives.
As detailed in our Accomplishmentspage, Jacobs & Crumplar has been litigating childhood sexual abuse cases and sexual assault cases since 2004 with great success. These include cases against individuals and institutions, such as Catholic churches, other churches, public and private schools, and Doctors. These include cases that happened in the 1950’s up to today. It is very common for survivors not to come forward or tell anyone for 20,30, 50 years. Jacobs & Crumplar also has experience with cases involving adults who are sexually assaulted by other adults.
If you have been sexually abused or sexually assaulted, please call us for a free, confidential consultation to discuss your legal rights and get the compensation and justice you deserve. No matter how long ago the abuse occurred, you may still have legal rights. Our attorneys and staff understand that it can be difficult and painful to come forward, and we are experienced and understanding. We have found that often, survivors of sexual abuse are empowered by being able to finally expose and hold their abusers and the institutions that enabled them accountable through the legal process. Our clients have told us that litigation can assist in the healing process for survivors. To date, Delaware courts have permitted child abuse survivors to proceed under a different name in many cases.
A federal statute, 18 U.S.C. § 2255, specifically authorizes a civil suit for the victim of any of several statutes prohibiting child molestation, exploitation, and pornography against not only the perpetrators who abused the children and created the pornography, but those that viewed it or downloaded it. The statute mandates a minimum of $150,000.00 recovery against each perpetrator. If you have been a victim of child pornography, please contact us to discuss your legal rights.
